STAFF REPORT :::
A stabbing in Griffin has left one man dead and police searching for the suspect.
The Griffin Police Department on Friday responded at 4:08 p.m. to 110 Morris St. Apartment G, in response to a call reporting a person with a stab wound.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, 24-year-old Cortez Collier, deceased inside the apartment.
Authorities have identified 22-year-old Trevor Walker as the suspect in Collier’s stabbing.
Walker allegedly fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
A press release issued by the Griffin Police Department said Walker was released in December from the Georgia Department of Corrections, where he was incarcerated for armed robbery.
Walker now has a warrant for his arrest on a charge of murder and additional charges may be added.
Officials say both Collier and Walker resided in the Morris Street apartment that was the scene of the crime, and that officers assigned to the Uniform Patrol and Criminal Investigation divisions and CAGE Unit are searching for the suspect in that area.
Anyone with information pertaining to Walker’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
The public should not approach Walker as he is presumed to still be armed and dangerous, police said.
