A murder investigation is underway following the report of a deceased person in the vicinity of the Griffin Municipal Golf Course. This marks the eighth homicide in the city of Griffin in 2020.
According to GPD Chief Mike Yates, the body was located in a wooded area near the golf course, in the area of Beck and English streets.
Officers of the Griffin Police Department were dispatched to the call at approximately 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say the investigation is in its early stages, with officers gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.
