SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::

The two men killed in a wreck early Monday morning have been identified as 25-year-old Robert Redding, of Griffin, and 58-year-old Daniel Thurman, of Zebulon.

According to Franka Young, of the Georgia Department of Public Safety Public Information Office, roadway evidence determined the wreck occurred when Redding lost control of his vehicle.

Trooper T. Freeman, of the Georgia State Patrol-Griffin Post, reported Redding was travelling southbound in the right lane on Georgia Highway 3 – Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway – near Kalamazoo Drive when he left the roadway and crossed into the grass median.

Redding’s Mazda then struck a ditch and vaulted before striking the Chevrolet pickup truck Thurman was driving northbound in the left lane.

“The Mazda that went through the median rotated approximately 180 degrees and the back of the Mazda struck the front of the Chevy pickup truck,” said Cpl. R. Youngblood of the GSP-Griffin Post.

Both vehicles “came to an uncontrolled rest in the left lane of GA-3,” Young said.

Thurman and Redding were pronounced dead at the scene.
