SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::

The Griffin Police Department investigation of a Thursday afternoon shooting that left two juveniles wounded is ongoing.

Uniform Patrol Division officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Carrington Drive in response to a person shot call.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 15-year-old male had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and a grazing gunshot wound to his head.

Emergency Medical Services personnel treated the victim at the scene, and he was transported for treatment.

While GPD officers continued their investigation at the shooting scene, a 17-year-old male was dropped off at the WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand.

The GPD has not identified either of the juveniles involved in this incident.

GPD Chief Mike Yates described both juveniles as uncooperative, but authorities say the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting may have resulted from a drug deal gone bad.

Narcotics and a stolen firearm were recovered from the scene, officials say.
