SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::
A Cowan Road Middle School educator is under investigation by the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say the investigation was precipitated by an allegation related to a specific incident involving the Griffin-Spalding County School System employee.
Authorities say that when confronted with the allegation, the employee resigned.
“I was briefed about the incident this afternoon by Captain Frank Clark. Right now, an allegation was made, and we started looking into it as soon as we were notified,” said Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix. “It’s my understanding that the school system employee resigned when asked about the incident by school administration and had left campus before an interview could be conducted by my investigators. We are conducting the investigation and getting the facts before any further statement is made. No one has been arrested.”
Dix said investigators are working to obtain videos and other information potentially related to this allegation.
