If you are looking for family friendly fun, check out today’s 2nd Saturday event – May’d in Griffin – from 2 to 5 p.m.
A celebration of Griffin, the Downtown Council and Main Street Program have teamed up with the Chamber of Commerce and Griffin-Spalding County School System to showcase things that contribute to making Griffin a great place to live, work and play.
May’d in Griffin is a unique 2nd Saturday event highlighting local industries, art, music, education and businesses.
Walk E. Solomon Street, near historic City Hall, for the May’d in Griffin Trade Show experience from 2 to 5 p.m. to learn more about local industries, business and community partners such as event sponsor Rinnai, Marukan Vinegar, Bandag, Vernay, Southern Crescent Technical College, the University of Georgia-Griffin, Griffin Daily News, Abide Home Care and Hollowood at Home.
The Griffin Downtown Market will kick off the 2022 season inside the fire bay in City Hall at 201 E. Solomon St. From 2 to 5 p.m., find Georgia grown farmers and crafters along with live entertainment by Logan Winkles on the outdoor patio. The Downtown Market will continue every Saturday through October.
Art created by local students will also be on display throughout downtown businesses. 2nd Saturday maps will have a place to check off each business visited throughout the day. Once you have found your student’s artwork, turn in your map at the Downtown Market by 5 p.m. to be entered to win the Day in Downtown gift basket provided by local downtown businesses.
The inaugural Partners in Education Cornhole Tournament is ongoing through 5 p.m. in Solomon Park.
Other 2nd Saturday activities include sidewalk sales at Cool-lectables at 125 S. Hill St. and Mondeefai at 324 E. Broad St. The Emerald Chandelier at 114 N. Hill St. is offering 25 percent off all teas and Ensemble Vintage Clothing at 114 N. Hill St. is offering 30 percent off storewide.
Live musing options include Swain & the OGs at 7 p.m. at Bank Street Café, ABSOLUTE QUEEN – with required ticket – at 7 p.m. at the Griffin Opera House and THEM at The Tipsy Daisy at 8 p.m.
