STAFF REPORT :::

The next phased rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, with vaccines provided only to those with scheduled appointments.

The vaccination effort is being provided by District 4 of the Georgia Department of Public Health, the Spalding County Health Department and the Spalding County Office of Homeland Security.

Individuals 65 and older, health care professionals and first responders are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Authorities anticipate a large turnout and reiterate that an appointment is required. They may be scheduled by calling 800.847.4262 and selecting option one.

To mitigate traffic difficulties, officials ask participants to enter from Solomon Street to Searcy Ave. to Harlow Ave., which will lead to the Health Department’s rear entrance.

Searcy Ave. will be blocked from Hamilton Blvd. to Solomon St. to accommodate those in line for vaccine distribution.

Traffic on Solomon St. from 6th St. to Searcy Ave. will be slow and possibly stopped. Motorists are advised to use caution in this area.

Harlow Ave. will be closed except for local traffic.

All motorists are asked to exercise caution throughout the vaccine distribution area.

Vaccine distribution will be held weekly on Fridays until further notice.

For additional information, please contact the Spalding County Office of Homeland Security at 770.228.2129 or the Spalding County Health Department at  770.467.4740 extension 109.
