SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::

Three people were located deceased after a Friday afternoon fire in the South Hampton Mobile Home Park located at 5291 Old Atlanta Road.

The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office and Spalding County Fire Department at 2:34 p.m. today responded to a call reporting a possible suicidal person at the address.

Upon arrival, they found the residence on fire.

Firefighters entered the home and located three victims.

Spalding County Coroner Sonny Foster responded to the scene and pronounced dead all three victims.

SCSO criminal and crime scene investigators responded, and the Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office was requested and was on scene assisting in the investigation.

The three bodies were transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for autopsy.

“Right now, we are investigating the deaths and fire. It is too early in the investigation to make a statement about the chain of events in this tragedy,” Sheriff Darrell Dix said. “All agencies involved will be working together and we will release more information as we progress.”

The names of the deceased have not been released.
