An arrest has been made in the Tuesday night shooting death of 40-year-old Johnny Whitlock.
Griffin Police Department investigators have charged 25-year-old Renita Thomas, of 615 Northside Drive Apartment O-2 with aggravated assault, involuntary manslaughter and pointing a gun at another.
Officers of the GPD Uniform Patrol Division responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. to a call reporting a person shot at 1224 Ellis Road, Whitlock’s residence.
Upon arrival, officers located Whitlock with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported by ambulance to the WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital Emergency Room where he died.
Authorities say the investigation into Whitlock’s shooting death remains active.
