The Griffin Police Department is investigating the homicide of 40-year-old Johnny Whitlock.
Officers of the GPD Uniform Patrol Division responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to a call reporting a person shot at 1224 Ellis Road.
Upon arrival, officers located Whitlock with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The shooting occurred at Whitlock’s residence.
Whitlock was transported by ambulance to the WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital Emergency Room where he later died.
Investigators responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
