STAFF REPORT :::

The city of Griffin and Spalding County are joining together to bring back a traditional Christmas experience with an illuminated Hometown Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. tonight in downtown Griffin.

The Hometown Christmas Parade will feature more than 100 participating community groups, local businesses, golf carts, marching bands, walking groups and of course, Santa.

The parade will coincide with the 2nd Saturday Jingle & Mingle event with special events and activities throughout the downtown area.

“We are excited to add the Hometown Christmas Parade to our 2nd Saturday Jingle & Mingle lineup,” said Griffin Economic Development Coordinator Heather Robinson. “We look forward to continuing monthly events like this in 2023, as we are committed to enhancing the quality-of-life experience for our citizens.”

Citizens are invited to shop, dine and explore downtown Griffin before the parade to enjoy participating businesses’ 2nd Saturday Jingle & Mingle specials and activities.

The First Baptist Church Ukulele Group will perform starting at 4:30 p.m.

The parade route – Broad and Solomon streets between 5th and 8th streets – will close at 6 p.m., with the parade beginning at 7 p.m.

Participating businesses will stay open late for shoppers and provide holiday beverages.
