Rehoboth Road Middle School has been placed on lockdown while the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office and school administrators investigate a threatening not located today on school grounds.
Griffin-Spalding County School System Executive Director of Communications and Partnerships Adam Pugh said school officials immediately notified law enforcement of the threat.
“Basically, my message that I just sent out to parents is that an anonymous note was found in a restroom at Rehoboth, so the school was placed on lockdown while they investigate that note,” Pugh said. “The students are still learning, but not one is moving about the hallways other than those that are investigating the source of the note.”
He said officials are reviewing camera footage to determine how the note got there.
The specific details of the note are not being disclosed, but Pugh said it was alarming.
“Obviously, it was threatening enough in nature that they thought they should immediately investigate it,” he said, elaborating that it was not a bomb threat. “The students are safe. That’s the biggest thing. They’re following protocol and investigating the source of the note.”
Parents of Rehoboth Road Middle School students have been notified of this incident.
“Parents have been notified by phone, text and email. If parent by chance did not receive notification by phone, text or email, that means we do not have their updated contact information. They can make the school aware of that so they can get future messages,” Pugh said.

“It was found to not be a credible threat so the lockdown was lifted about ten minutes ago,” said Adam Pugh. “I’m thankful, like you are, that it was just someone writing a note. No one knows what their motivation was. One can only speculate.”
