STAFF REPORT :::

A Griffin man is facing charges related to entering an auto in the Forest Hills neighborhood.

The Griffin Police Department reports that at approximately 2 a.m. Saturday, Uniform Patrol Officers patrolling in the area of Bieze Street spotted two men walking in the roadway.

Authorities said when the UPD officers attempted to contact the men, they fled the area on foot.

The recent snowfall made the men’s direction of travel discernible, and additional UPD officers responded and immediately established a perimeter of the area.

The UPD officers requested the assistance of a K9 officer from the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, and Deputy Jennifer Fuller responded with Ryker, her K9, and the pair tracked one suspect toward Hamilton Drive, where one suspect, 20-year-old Rodriquez Quintero McCrary, was located on Hamilton Drive near Highway 16 East.

Officials said that when McCrary was apprehended, he was in possession of vehicle keys, a handgun, flashlight and credit cards.

The keys in McCrary’s possession allegedly belong to a resident in the area, officials said.

McCrary has been charged with entering auto, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and carrying a concealed weapon.

A press release issued by the Griffin Police Department expressed appreciation to Deputy Fuller, K9 Ryker and the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, stating that Fuller’s dedication and willingness to assist have not gone unnoticed.
