SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of 18-year-old William Trawick in a Butts County shooting that left three others wounded.

Carey Williams, age 18, of Locust Grove, and Jordan Watson, age 18, of McDonough, have been charged with murder and aggravated assault.

“One was taken into custody the same night of the shooting, that was Jordan Watson, and Carey Williams was taken into custody Friday,” said Maj. Jeff Nix, of the Butts County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

The incident occurred Tuesday, Feb. 16 at a Brooks Road residence in Jackson.

Trawick succumbed to injuries resulting from multiple gunshot wounds. A second male victim, a female victim and Trawick resided at the Brooks Road residence.

Officials say they had moved from Griffin to Jackson within the month prior to the shooting.

“Apparently, a group of guys came over to a house. There were already three people there,” Long stated previously. “It appears an altercation took place and the group that was there visiting pulled out some pistols and began firing.”
One man who was shot was a member of the visiting party, Long said.

Nix said neither Williams nor Watson are related to any of the victims.

The suspects have given statements, but Nix would elaborate no further as the investigation is ongoing.

“We suspect there’s gonna be more arrests possible,” Nix said.

The three surviving victims are recovering.

“I do know it’s non-life threatening,” Nix said. “They should have been released, but I don’t have an update.”

Williams and Watson are being held in the Butts County Jail.
