A pedestrian was struck and killed late Monday night when he was struck by a vehicle on South Hill Street.
Sgt. Robert Thompson, of the Georgia State Patrol-Griffin Post, said the incident was reported at approximately 11:19 p.m.
The victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of his next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thompson said the victim was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe that was travelling southbound. The collision happened approximately one-quarter mile north of the Hillandale subdivision in a curve in the roadway.
“According to the remarks (in the incident report), the pedestrian was in the roadway,” Thompson said.
The driver, 47-year-old Nicholas Flowers, of Thomaston, was not cited in the incident.
