The victim of a Friday night homicide has been identified as 26-year-old Jeffery Ryan Deluca.
Officers of the Griffin Police Department Uniform Patrol Division responded at 11:18 p.m. Friday to a call reporting a person shot in Apartment 1-37 of the Walden Pointe Apartments located at 700 Carver Road.
Upon arrival, Deluca was located in the doorway of that apartment unit.
Deluca had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head.
WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital Emergency Medical Services responded and rendered aid. Deluca was subsequently transported by helicopter to an Atlanta trauma unit where he later died.
Investigators of the GPD Criminal Investigation Division are continuing to work this case, following leads and conducting interviews.
